We provide mobility aids to people throughout the Wigan and Leigh Borough
The Wheelchair Fund Out and About Project is funded by the Big Lottery Reaching Communities Programme.
Our aim is to supply those at greatest disadvantage because of their disability with a suitably adapted piece of mobility equipment (powered wheelchairs, scooters, powerpacks) in order to reduce isolation, break down the barriers to participation and to play an active role in the life of their community.

Along with the application form we need a refreral form from your doctor or occupational therapist.
Without a referal form we cannot look into your application.

Application Process
When we recieve your mobility aid application form and referral form from your doctor or occupational therapist it will be checked and discussed at a meeting of our committee. These meetings are held on the last monday of every month.
From that meeting a decision will be made as to whether a fund engineer will visit the applicant to assess their requirements/needs.
The fund engineer will report back at the next meeting and a decision will be made to determine whether the application is successful and provision of mobility aid or donation will be made.
