Robert suffers from Meniers Disease, which is a condition that causes dizziness mainly as he stands up or sits down. He also suffers from Osteoporosis of the hip and spine together with Osteo-Arthritis of the spine, neck and shoulder.
Prior to receiving a powerchair from the Wheelchair Fund Robert was mostly confined to his house. Previously a very active person who played rugby until his 40’s, he was becoming depressed by being house bound.
Robert says: “I was lucky to get out maybe just once per week without my wheelchair, now I am out at least four days per week. I regularly go over the road to speak to neighbours, go to the shops, supermarkets and pub. I‘ve been to watch my grandson play football and my eldest son on the golf driving range. I’m also looking forward to going fishing. The chair has given me a confidence boost, a brighter future with more freedom and independence.”
Robert can now venture outside of his home without needing to rely on his wife or others to assist him. He is able to see friends and family more often.
